On Friday, January 27th, Trainer Vicky Torres, LVN/RCFE Administrator/ED/ will work with students on best practices for training care staff to both interact, observe and care  for residents with a diagnosis of dementia and Alzheimer’s.  Vicky has successfully managed Alzheimer’s Dementia facilities and understands the importance of proper staff training.  The course is approved for the required RCFE Administrator Alzheimer’s Dementia continuing education training.

Sharmone La Rose, Gerontologist, Certified Memory Impairment Specialist and Department chairwoman of the Older Adult Program at Torrance Adult  School will be the trainer.  Sharmone will lead a workshop on memory fitness for seniors in residential and assisted living facilities.  She will cover techniques to improve short-term and long term memory and ways to keep the brain healthy with the latest research.  Her program will address activities in small residential care, Alzheimer’s specialty care facilities and larger assisted living communities.  Sharmone will provide materials and books to the students in class.  To register for class call 800-585-6556 or fax registration to 949-598-9622 class registration.
